Take a long hard look at administrative costs.
Every time there is a need to cut funds every tax supported entity (it seems like) hones in on things that are sensitive to the tax payers. Look around at all of the people behind the scenes. When private enterprise has to cut costs they can not cut back on service provided to their customers, but have to cut costs internally. Doing more for less sometimes has to happen.
Private enterprises may not cut back on services... sometimes, however, they do raise their prices. Given that the city has already cut back on staff (or failed to increase staff even though Lincoln keeps growing) -- it's reasonable that the next steps should involve raising prices (taxes). If we want these services -- we should be paying for them. Not expecting the city to keep providing them with less and less resources to do so.
